Liechtenstein is our 48th country to visit. It took a bit to get to Vaduz, 2 trains to get to Sargans and then a bus ride to Vaduz. It was worth the trip though. Liechtenstein is a small country with only 40,000 people and only 5,200 people in Vaduz. It is a monarchy and is run by the prince who resides in the castle overlooking Vaduz. The countryside is beautiful! The town sits in the Rhine Valley and is surrounded by the Eastern Alps. The town is small and there is not much to see. We visited the Cathedral of St. Florin and explored the town. We also walked to the “Old Rhine Bridge” which is a covered wooden bridge that connects the municipality of Vaduz in Liechtenstein with the municipality of Sevelen in Switzerland, making it an international border crossing.
