We were supposed to stay in Byron Bay for 3 days, but we changed our itinerary at the last minute and spent a few days in Ballina. It was lovely and peaceful! They have very nice beaches, natural swim areas and picturesque landscapes. Our apartment overlooked the Richmond River so we were able to watch a variety of water sports from our balcony. There were several restaurants and shops within walking distance which was perfect for our stay.

On our first day we took a walk on the North Wall which is where the Richmond River meets the South Pacific. There were very large waves as we watched a small boat skillfully navigating from the sea into the river.
