Ghent, Belgium

We had time to take a short walk and see a few more of the sites. The town square is surrounded by beautiful and ornate buildings. There are also several old churches that are amazing!

As we were traveling into the train station, we noticed that there were thousands of bicycles parked in a lot next to the station. We learned that about 20 years ago the traffic was a bit unmanageable so the government established a bike program. Ghent has the largest low-traffic pedestrian zone in Europe. I have never seen so may bicycles in one city.
