Grand Master’s Palace, Valletta, Malta

The Grand Master’s Palace in Valletta, Malta, is a stunning historical landmark that epitomizes the grandeur of the Knights of St. John. Built in the late 16th century, this impressive palace served as the residence of the Grand Master of the Order and the administrative center of the knights. Its opulent interior features lavish halls adorned with intricate frescoes, priceless tapestries, and magnificent artifacts. The palace also houses the Palace Armory, showcasing an extensive collection of arms and armor. Today, it stands as a testament to Malta’s rich history and serves as the office of the President of Malta and a museum open to the public.

We enjoyed our tour of the palace. We especially liked the decorated halls with lovely paintings, even on the ceilings. The armory is the largest that we have seen in our travels. They have quite an extensive collection.
