It is estimated that there are over 1,600 Buddhist temples and 400 Shinto shrines in and around Kyoto. Among these numerous sites, 17 of them are designated as UNESCO World Heritage Sites. We are only in Kyoto for a few days, so we will definitely not see all of them. Today we visited the Kiyomizu-dera Temple. It was extremely busy. On our way back to the hotel we visited an interesting graveyard called the Otani Cemetery. We both thought the layout looked like a large city. The graveyard was quite large and spread out along the hillside.
