We spent the morning walking through the old city, the university area and saw a few of the beautiful churches, St. Thomas Church and St. Nicholas Church.  Since the year 1212, St. Thomas Church has been home to the St. Thomas Boys’ Choir – one of the most renowned boys’ choirs in Germany. From 1723 to 1750, the choir was led by St. Thomas Cantor Johann Sebastian Bach. It has also been Bach’s burial place since 1950. St. Nicholas Church was the scene of the Monday Demonstrations that eventually helped reunite Germany. St. Nicholas Church is quite beautiful inside. Everything is white.
