We spent 2 days in Lucerne of which one day was forecasting rain. So, we saw everything on our list in just one day and we walked a lot. It is a beautiful setting with Lake Lucerne and the Swiss Alps as a backdrop.  They say Lucerne is one of the most beautiful cities in Switzerland and that it is like you might see in a fairy tale. Many of the buildings’ facades are richly decorated with figures of court jesters, knights, milkmaids, and more. Chapel Bridge was built in the early part of the 14th century and is the oldest surviving truss bridge in the world. Spreuer is another covered wooden bridge that has 45 rather dark paintings of the Totentanz (Dance of Death) on triangular panels under the rafters.
