Lyon, France (Day 1)

Lyon….what a beautiful city! I just read an article that describes Lyon as a city where the rhythm is slow, but the energy is high. I would have to agree as on our first day in the city we left our hotel to see thousands of people out on an early Sunday morning. There were races of all kinds, running, biking and boating. There was a great deal of participation and many people there to cheer them on. We toured the city and saw many beautiful buildings, churches and fountains. The Hotel de Ville (City Hall) is a lovely old building and across from it is the stunning Opera House. We went into the Lyon Cathedral which houses an astronomical clock that was installed in the 1300s and it still works.
