Molokini Island snorkeling tour, Maui

We found a snorkeling tour that didn’t leave early morning so we booked the tour to Molokini. There were only 20 people on the tour so it was very comfortable. The staff were wonderful and we enjoyed the trip. The snorkeling was ok, but I was a bit disappointed, after snorkeling at the Great Barrier Reef and Exmouth. Both places offered much better snorkeling, more fish varieties and beautiful coral.

Molokini is a small crescent shaped island off the coast of Maui. When the United States entered World War II, the military used Molokini Crater for bombing practice. Years of protests and lobbying led the US government to deem Molokini Crater and the surrounding 77 acres a Marine Life Conservation District and Bird Sanctuary.
