Montpellier, France

Founded in 985, Montpellier quickly grew into a prosperous trading city due to its proximity to the Mediterranean Sea. Its University is one of the oldest in the world, established in 1220, and boasts the oldest continuously operating medical school in the Western world. This gives the city a youthful and intellectual atmosphere, with a large student population of over 70,000 students.

We enjoyed a few days in Montpellier visiting all of the lovely sites and wandering the narrow cobblestone streets.
