Wow, what a beautiful city! It seems there is something nice to see in every direction. I wish we had scheduled more time here as there is a lot to see and do. As we walked into the Marianplatz (the old town square) we were amazed at the crowds of people gathered. We were just in time to hear the bells ringing at the Neues Rathaus (Munich’s town hall). Since 1908 the Glockenspiel has chimed each day at 11:00 and 12:00, with automatons acting out episodes from the 1600s. I am so glad that we got to see it.

We also saw two churches. The Theatine Church is really ornate and beautiful inside. The Frauenkirche dates back to the 1500’s and houses the tomb monument to Louis IV, the Holy Roman Emperor.
