This is our first day in Christchurch. We took a walk around the city and ended up at New Regent Street which was developed in the 1930’s. There are lots of shops and restaurants and the tram runs through the center of it.  The city is lovely with lots of green space and walking trails. It is relatively flat which is a nice change from the other very hilly cities that we have visited in New Zealand.  The city experienced terrible earthquakes in 2010 and 2011 so there are still lots of damaged buildings and so much new construction is under way.
