Salzburg, Austria

We spent part of the day exploring Old Town with many beautiful buildings and statues. Salzburg is where the “Sound of Music” was filmed and it is also the birth place of Mozart. It lies at the foothills of the Alps which makes for a lovely backdrop. It is mid-June and you can still see snow on the rugged mountain tops.

We also visited the Abbey of St. Peter, a Benedictine monastery and former cathedral. There is a beautiful, ancient cemetary (Friedhod St. Peter) and St. Peter’s Catacombs located next to the cathedral. St. Peter’s is really pretty inside.
