This was our first day in Warsaw so we decided to visit Old Town which isn’t really old at all. In 1945 Warsaw was 85% destroyed and the reconstruction took until 1962. Many of the historical streets, buildings, and churches have been restored exactly according to their original forms. We saw the Barbican and walked along the old city walls. We also saw the Royal Castle and strolled along the Royal Route which is home to many beautiful buildings, palaces, churches and statues. It seemed that there was something to see around every corner.

Old Town is surrounded by enormous new and modern buildings, tall skyscrapers and hotels. It is a lovely city to visit.
