The beautiful buildings, including Wawel Castle and Wawel Cathedral date back to the 11th century. Over time it has been expanded and has been the home of many kings and was an army garrison for a period of time. It has undergone several restorations with the last one completed in the 1990’s. It was restored to its original condition and is quite lovely. It sits at the top of Wawel Hill overlooking Vistula River and Old Town.
