We started the day with a free one hour tour of the Parliament buildings which is comprised of the main Parliament house, the Parliament library and the “Bee Hive” which is the executive wing and is where the Prime Minister and his cabinet have their offices. The tour was not that great, but just a brief overview of the buildings.
We then rode the Wellington cable car to the top of the mountain and took a walk through the Wellington Botanical garden. It was a cold, overcast day and the most of the flowers are not in bloom yet. There is a lovely rose garden and there are a lot of nice trees. At the base of the mountain there is a very old cemetery, called Bolton Cemetery which dates back to 1840.
