This was our first whale watching trip so we were really looking forward to it. The boat left from Maalaea Harbor and was a two hour trip.  We spotted several whales on this trip and gained a lot of knowledge regarding these giant creatures. More than 10,000 Humpback whales come from Alaska to Maui each year. The warm waters make a perfect breeding ground for them. The whales can grow from 40 to 50 feet and weigh up to 50 tons.
