Today we took the Gondola in Whistler Village to the top of the Whistler Mountain where it was quite chilly as the sun was hiding behind all of the clouds. We then took the Peak 2 Peak Gondola to Blackcomb Mountain where we took a short hike. A few things to note about the Peak 2 Peak Gondola:  It is the world’s longest unsupported span for a lift of this kind at 1.88 miles. It is the world’s highest lift of its kind at 1,427 ft. above the valley floor. It is the world’s longest continuous lift system: Connecting 3 high speed gondolas.

As we looked out over the valley, we noticed the strange colored water. It is a very pretty green tone. We learned that it is caused from the glaciers melting. As glaciers slowly slide down the mountains, their massive weight and embedded rocks act like giant sheets of sandpaper, grinding the bedrock underneath into an extremely fine, powder-like silt. Because the silt particles are microscopic, they do not sink to the bottom. Instead, they remain suspended throughout the water column.
