It was a Saturday night and we decided to take the bus to a popular plaza called Piazza Navona. It’s supposed to be very pretty at night and there are lots of restaurants in the area. We waited and waited but the bus never came. There were several police vehicles that passed by, but still no bus. We finally gave up and walked to an area about a mile away to find a restaurant. We noticed that the streets were blocked in all directions for many blocks, so we waited around to see what was going on. Very shortly the march began. There were crowds of people in parade style, with banners, decorated vehicles, marching bands, singing and talking on loud speakers. It was a big Women’s march for the elimination of violence against women. There were thousands of participants.
