Wroclaw Dwarfs, Wroclaw, Poland

The sculptures began as a recognition of the Orange Alternative, an anti-Soviet resistance movement, which helped bring the end of Poland’s communist regime in the 1980’s.

The first dwarf appeared on the streets of Wrocław in 2001. No one knows exactly how many dwarves are in the city, currently the estimated number is over 600 and it’s still growing.

We had fun spotting the dwarfs which can be found in many places throughout the city, including doorways, light posts, window ledges, benches, etc. They even have a tourist map to assist in finding them. They are so cute and quite creative!
