Our timing for a  visit to Chiang Mai was not the best. The air quality was quite bad due to fires in Miramar so we did not get to do what we had planned. The town is located in the mountains, but we were not able to see the mountains much less explore them.

We went with plan B and decided to explore the zoo. It was a sad zoo and not well taken care of. We did enjoy seeing the baby hippopotamus, baby flamingos and the monkeys. They had some very beautiful birds.

While in Chiang Mai we tried several Thai restaurants. The food is really good and cheap. You can have an appetizer and 2 main dishes for less than $10.00.
