Canal tour, Copenhagen, Denmark
Today was our first day in Copenhagen and I must say I am not impressed. It seems like a large city with a very poor transportation system for tourists. The taxis are very expensive and they do not allow Uber or Bolt. They really want you on a bicycle in a city with a lot of traffic. They are trying to be more like Amsterdam. The mass transit is not tourist friendly, very difficult to even buy a ticket. The available transit apps do not allow you to buy tickets electronically unless you have a local phone number. The restaurants are expensive. The area seems very densely populated with hundreds of high rise condominium complexes.
So, we took a canal tour to see some of the city. We also visited the Round Tower which was built by Christian IV between 1637 and 1642. It combined church, library and observatory in a single building. It is noted for its equestrian staircase, a 7.5-turn helical corridor leading to the platform at the top, and its views over Copenhagen.
